FameLab Thailand 2021
For the final year of FameLab Thailand, Dr. Sirawit (Ice) Ittisoponpisan, from Prince of Songkla University, was crowned as the winner of Thailand. Throughout the online stage, he has shown his expertise in how information and data can help revolutionise medical research through the power of predicting and understanding molecular structures. He was also crowned as the public favourite, winning the People's Choice Award as well.
1st Runner-up: Mr. Teerapong Poltue (KMUTT)
2nd Runner-up: Miss Mancharee Sangmueang (Khon Kaen University)
3rd Runner-up: Miss Kwankhao Sinhaseni (Griffith University, Australia and RECOFCT, Thailand)
In the International stage, Dr. Ice made it through to the final rounds. Alex Doherty was later named the FameLab International Winner for 2021.
FameLab Thailand 2020
The fifth FameLab Thailand winner, once again goes to a lecturer from Khon Kaen University, Dr. Supree Pinitsoontorn. His talk, both in Thailand and the UK, were based on his research to save the environment on carbon nanosponge for oil sorption.
1st Runner-up and People’s Choice Award: Mr. Prompong Pakawanwong (Kamnoetvidya Science Academy)
2nd Runner-up: Miss Chutikun Kanjanaruch (Khon Kaen University)
Sauradeep Majumdar, the Switzerland-based doctoral researcher, became the winner of FameLab International 2020 with his three-minute talk explaining how scientists are using carbon capture to combat climate change. Runner-ups were awarded to: Ahmad Maani (Qatar), and Rebecca Ellis (UK).
FameLab Thailand 2019
The fourth FameLab Thailand winner, and Thailand's first representative to made to the 10 finalists in the International Competition, is the charming research associate, Miss Napat Tandikul. In the UK, she has transformed into Hermione with her talk on 'lab-grown bones', and the next generation farmer presenting on 'lab-grown meat'.
1st Runner-up: Miss Benyapa Wongsaravit (Rangsit University)
2nd Runner-up: Mr. Nawapol Chuamvarasart (Chulalongkorn University)
People's Choice Award: Mr. Sutthichon Rattanayatikul (Khon Kaen University)
Tim Gordon, a marine biology PhD student from the UK, beat 24 other science communicators from across the world at the Cheltenham Science Festival and became the winner of FameLab International 2019, as well as the first representative from the UK to win the competition. Runner-ups were awarded to: Athira Menon (Netherlands), and Keneilwe Moropa (South Africa).
FameLab Thailand 2018
The third FameLab Thailand winner is the young physicist, Mr. Apivich Hemachandra, Mahidol University. At the International Competition, he has cracked the complexity of the Quantum Computers.
1st Runner-up: Miss Soramon Chaichan (Khon Kaen University)
2nd Runner-up: Dr. Pongkarn Chakthranont (NANOTEC)
People's Choice Award: Miss Tanyawan Krissanawan (Nakornpayap International School)
Dr. Siti Khayriyyah Mohd Hanafiah, a Biological Science lecturer from Malaysia, was crowned the 2018 FameLab International Champion with her talk on tuberculosis control. Second place was awarded to two runner-ups: Vanessa Pirotta (Australia), and Veli Vural Uslu (Germany).
FameLab Thailand 2017
Thailand's winner of FameLab 2017 is the pharmacy student, Mr. Parinya Khonnongjok, Khon Kaen University, with his 3-minute talk on "Personalized Medicine: The Future is now".
1st Runner-up: Dr. Sutheera Ratanasirintrawoot (Chulalongkorn University)
2nd Runner-up: Miss Kamonrat Koobubpha (Khon Kaen University)
Tshiamo Legoale, a geologist from South Africa, became the FameLab 2017 International Champion and Audience Vote Winner, beating 31 science communicators from across the world to do so. Two runners-up took second place: Nicole Tanner (Hong Kong) and Nural Cokcetin (Australia).
FameLab Thailand 2016
Thailand’s very first FameLab winner is Dr. Khaow Tonsomboon, BIOTEC, a Cambridge University alumnus, and is also the winner of People Choice's Award. The 1st Runner-up is Dr.Tawin Iempridee (NANOTEC) and 2nd Runner-up is Dr. Wananit Wimuttisuk (BIOTEC).
The winner of FameLab International 2016 is Dr. Albhi Veerakumarasivam from Malaysia. The runner-ups are Alba Aguión from Spain and Aida Rafat from Qatar respectively.
