Background to the Project
Responding to the global economic challenge and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Thailand has adopted Bio-Circular-Green Economic Model (BCG) for sustainable growth and inclusiveness. Drawing on the country’s strengths in biodiversity and cultural richness, the model employs technology and innovation to transform Thailand to a value-based, innovation-driven economy.
Having previously collaborated on the Foresight for Food Project, British Council and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) agreed to work on the Foresight into BCG Model Project to support higher education institutions, research institutes and policymakers in developing better informed policies and strategies in response to uncertain changes.
This project is part of the British Council's Going Global Partnerships Programme, building stronger, more inclusive, internationally connected higher education and TVET systems.
Consultancy requirements
We are seeking a consultancy to draw upon successful UK planning models, including foresight approaches to develop planning tools and frameworks for Thailand’s 4 BCG sectors; Food and Agriculture, Health and Wellbeing, Environment, Tourism, and others BCG related industries. These tools are then to be deployed through workshops for policy makers, universities, research institutes, and other relevant stakeholders to build foresight skills.
It is expected that the workshops will result in the development of sector-specific roadmaps and implementation plans, which can then be shared with ASEAN countries.
Contract duration: 8 months, from October 2021 to June 2022
*Key activities will take place from October 2021 to February 2022. Consultants will need to travel to Thailand during February 2022.
