Asst Prof Dr Boontida Uapipatanakul

Graduate from the University of Oxford

Dr Boontida Uapipatanakul has reduced inequality problems in Thailand by tackling poverty in rural areas through the concept of teaching people to fish, rather than giving them fish. This was achieved by educating farmers on creating new skills and re-skilling. Farmers are now able to generate more income sustainably and have better life quality.

A UK education has equipped Boontida with soft skills, lifelong learning skills, and problem-solving skills. These have extended to other skills that she has subsequently developed, which is what makes UK education different from others.

Boontida hopes to achieve zero poverty and a sustainable society in Thailand and then expand into neighbouring countries.
