Canterbury Christ Church dates back to 1962, when it was founded by the Church of England as a centre for teacher training, called Christ Church College.
Our undergraduate courses are taught at one of two campuses in Kent, each with a different flavour. The buzzing cosmopolitan city centre in Canterbury; the world-famous cathedral city, is home to the University’s main campus. We are right at the heart of this great student city and we are privileged to be one of only a handful of UK universities located in a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With historic streets, ancient city walls, lively bars, cosy pubs, exciting clubs and top-class restaurants, there’s something for everyone.
We have hundreds of courses on offer in the arts and humanities, applied and social sciences (including business), education, and health and social care. Moreover, we have teamed up with businesses and organisations to provide opportunities for work-based learning and professional placements in industry.
Our exciting, new Learning and Teaching Strategy underpins and informs our commitment to outstanding higher education, student experience and excellent outcomes. We’ve climbed 36 places to 51st making us the most improved university in the UK and highest ranked for student experience of any university in London or Kent (excluding specialist institutions).
The Research Excellence Framework (REF) in 2014 demonstrated our world-leading research in all of the ten areas we submitted. 88% of our submission was recognised as world leading or internationally excellent or internationally recognised.
