English Programmes

The British Council is incorporated by the Royal Charter and is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We create friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and other countries. English Programmes aims for transformational change in English language policy and practice, with the belief that better teaching and learning of English increases academic and career opportunities and enables people to participate actively in a global society. We support language teaching and learning in a multilingual world, helping to ensure inclusive and equitable quality language education in line with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4.

TeachingEnglish is the world’s largest online English teaching community. Teachers and teacher educators can build their professional network, share ideas and knowhow, and stay up to date with the latest research and innovations in teaching.
