This course is delivered by the British Council Thailand exclusively for teachers of English in state primary and opportunity extension schools in Songkhla Yala Pattani and Narathiwat. We are open for applications for our first cohort of 2025.
There is no minimum English language requirement (ELR) or minimum years of teaching experience.
However, you must be a student-facing English as a Subject in Basic Education teacher to qualify and apply.
Please note: this is a Small Private Online Course (SPOC) with onsite training and numbers are limited. Please only apply if you can commit time to engaging fully with the course. Please note: Consent from your school director (and/or other as appropriate) should be provided before applying as the course requires the onsite training/workshop element and also requires time during school year as well as during school closures, and also implementation of the course into your classroom teaching. All logistics travel costs occurred for the onsite training must be responsible by your institution.
Eligibility Criteria
- Thai teachers of English subjects from small and medium-sized primary schools or extended opportunity schools in the four southern provinces of Thailand (Songkhla, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat) who teach students in schools under Thailand's educational system.
- Must demonstrate dedication and willingness to complete the entire training course, participate in activities, and submit assignments as required.
- Must be able to attend both onsite and online training sessions as scheduled (May–September 2025).
- Must have access to or possess electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops, or computers, along with a stable and efficient internet connection to join online training sessions effectively.
- Should have basic knowledge of online learning platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
- Should have the potential to apply acquired knowledge to train other teachers within their schools or networks and be willing to join Professional Learning Community (PLC) groups for shared learning as required.
- Should have an English proficiency level of CEFR A2 (Pre-intermediate) or higher. Teachers with a proficiency level below A2 are required to attend English language improvement training before joining the program. Selected applicants will receive a free link to take an English placement test prior to participating in the training.
- Must obtain consent or approval from their school or relevant authorities, to join the training.
This program is free of charge. For the onsite training session from May 7–9, 2025, the British Council Thailand and the Office for Teacher and School Quality Development (under the Equitable Education Fund - EEF) will cover the training, accommodation, and meals. However, participants or their respective organizations are responsible for their own travel expenses to the training venue.
