Course objectives & methodology

  • To establish a solid foundation in English language with a focus on all four primary skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking)
  • To build confidence in using authentic English in a safe, relaxed and positive environment
  • To set clear achievable goals that build motivation and self-confidence
  • To foster interpersonal skills such as team-working
  • Focus on learning English through enjoyable, imaginative and stimulating tasks and games
  • Songs, rhymes and chants are used to reinforce language and vocabulary
  • Models of natural language are provided through genuine communication
  • Independent learning and wider exposure to English is encouraged through homework tasks

Options for partnership

Fully integrated daytime programme with the British Council as the sole provider of English language input

Class hours: Approximately 200 class hours per academic year per class

Course focus: A holistic approach to developing the primary skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking with an emphasis on clear pronunciation) and the foundation (grammar and vocabulary) with an emphasis on creativity and self-expression.

Supplementary daytime programme with the British Council providing English language input for the learners in cooperation with the school's own teachers

Class hours: Approximately 100 class hours per academic year per class

Course focus: Communicative abilities (tailored to the particular needs of learners)

Intensive holiday courses with British Council teachers during school breaks (e.g. around Songkran)

Class hours: Approximately 30 class hours per course per class 

Course focus: All skills with an emphasis on developing communicative abilities

Weekend & after-school classes

Class hours: Approximately 80 class hours per academic year per class 

Course focus: Additional support for the school's English curriculum
