In Education, we have a strong relationship with the Ministry of Education. We always gain trust from Ministry of Education and we are one of their strategic partners in different areas. British Council Thailand has been invited to be part of one of the Committees of Preparation for the ASEAN Community and Creative Education of the Ministry of Education.

With the strong relationship between British Council Thailand and the government, senior figures in the government usually attend our events. The Minister of Education has many times opened the Education Festival (a series of educational activities including conferences, seminars, master classes, and exhibitions), The Prime Minister attended the Education UK exhibition in 2009 and delivered a short talk on “Global Citizens and Leaders of the Future”. He also attended the launch of the Digit Play exhibition in March 2010.

The British Council has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Office of Higher Education Commission to provide them with support and consultation on their national agenda for Higher Education, University Funding Mechanism.

We have regularly provided the Ministry of Education with information and support for senior administrator visits to the UK, including a Ministerial visit. We helped liaison between Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) and the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) to meet with the Secretary General when he visited the UK. Recently, we have been involved in the Secretary General of the Office of Higher Education Commission visit to Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA). This visit was considered initial learning about the work of HESA and is expected to lead to a consultancy project where the Thai government will learn and adapt the HESA approach for use in Thailand.
