Meet the speakers

Dr Sha Wu

Director, National Education Examinations Authority, China

Dr. Sha Wu is serving as Director of Foreign Language Assessment Department at the National Education Examinations Authority (NEEA), Ministry of Education, China. Since 2014, she has been working closely with a team of more than 200 researchers at home and abroad to develop China’s Standards of English Language Ability (CSE). She is now dedicated to the CSE’s dissemination and application. Her research interests include language standards, language assessment and innovation adoption.

William Gee

William retired as a Chartered Accountant after a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades, during which he supported the implementation of technology related infrastructure in both Hong Kong and Mainland China. William is experienced in leading pioneering work beyond financial reporting, including the design and implementation of business and technology processes and controls, internal controls and enterprise risk management, carbon emission assurance, anti-trust, and data privacy. 

Dr Adam Edmett

Head Ed Tech Innovation, British Council

Adam Edmett is Head of EdTech Innovation for the British Council and currently based in Doha, Qatar. His role involves identifying and managing the development of EdTech innovations to enable the delivery of high-quality English language teacher (ELT) development programmes globally. Adam has 27 years’ experience in ELT and digital learning technology with roles in fourteen countries. He has a Doctorate from the University of Bath and an MA from the Open University, both in Online Education.
